(September – March)
“My choice is you, God, first and only.” Psalm 16:5 MSG
Glacierview Baptist Church is proud to announce a one-of-a-kind children’s ministry: TruthSeekers! This program is a customized, Christ oriented teaching program designed specifically for the children of the Homer area and anchored in God’s word.
Truth Seekers is a non-denominational, Bible-centered children’s and youth ministry whose goal is to reach the youth of this community with the Gospel of Christ, and train them to serve Him. Throughout the club year, we will have many exciting events for the children and their parents to enjoy. While Truth Seekers is hosted by Glacierview Baptist Church and all the crafts and activities are inclusive, some of these activities do require preparation time outside of the regular club time, such as creating your own pinewood car, “service” nights and theme nights. Please feel free to drop by and visit the club for a little while or for an entire meeting. Your participation, encouragement and prayers are both welcomed and appreciated.
About our Ministry
Behind the scenes of the new TruthSeekers club are many adults with a long history and wonderful variety of experiences, all dedicated to bringing the truth of God’s word to your child in an exciting and easy-to-learn program. As we travel together through this year of TruthSeekers club at Glacierview Baptist Church, we are looking forward to your child participating and growing in God’s word! We have a terrific year of activities, crafts, fellowship and surprises planned.
The TruthSeekers ministry includes scripture memorization and understanding, unique group activities, game time, and crafts. TruthSeekers is a program designed to help the church give children a sound Biblical foundation, which we hope they will carry with them for their entire lives. Glacierview’s TruthSeekers ministry is an innovative fellowship club with a thorough devotion to the Lord that will be replacing the AWANAs program.
El Elyon:“The Most High God.” Stresses God’s strength, sovereignty, and supremacy (Gen. 14:19; Ps. 9:2; Dan. 7:18, 22, 25) This group, the “Elyons”, is the oldest age group, dedicated to children in grades 3rd-6th and will focus on building confidence and a stable relationship with God and Jesus Christ through the study and application of His Word. There are plenty of lighthearted, challenging, and fun activities planned, keeping in mind the more mature abilities of this group.
Yahweh Ro’i [Rohi]: “The Lord my Shepherd.” Portrays the Lord as the Shepherd who cares for His people as a shepherd cares for the sheep of his pasture (Ps. 23:1) Our “Rohis” are the children in grades Kindergarten through 2nd which will be growing together and in God’s word. Children in this group will be gently challenged to stretch their abilities to focus, memorize and be thoughtful in the application of God’s teaching while also taking time to be silly and have lots of fun.
Yahweh Nissi: “The Lord is my Banner.” Stresses that God is our rallying point and our means of victory; the one who fights for His people (Ex. 17:15) The “Nissis” as we call them, are our Pre-K children, ages 3-5. Their studies will mimic the studies and structure of the older children, but will be customized to the realistic abilities of a preschooler. With plenty of stories, games, crafts and songs to keep them entertained, we hope to plant the seed of God’s word with these little ones.
There are many ways for parents to help their children grow in their relationship with God through TruthSeekers. Specifically, they can work regularly with them on scripture memorization. They can also answer the many questions their child may have as a result of participating, and encourage them as they work toward specific awards. We encourage you to make it your goal to dedicate 10-15 minutes during the week to be focused on your child and available to have meaningful, spiritual conversations about what they are learning. In addition, there is always a need for more adult participation and volunteers. Speak with any of the TruthSeekers staff if you are interested in helping.
What does a typical TruthSeekers night look like?
Upon entering the building the children will sign-in at our entry table for points, later used for store night, and then go to their assigned room. During the first 10 minutes the kids will decorate their memory verse card for that week. The kids then do craft time, verse time, snack time, and game time from 6:10 to 6:55pm. At 6:55pm all the groups meet in the auditorium for a group activity that is related to the theme of that particular week. At 7:15pm we sing and dance to upbeat Christian music and then release back to our classrooms for dismissal. In Verse Time, the children will learn and recite highlighted Bible scripture and learn new verses for the next week. In Game Time, children will play age-appropriate games, focusing on sportsmanship and cooperation. These games encourage participation and team competition. In Craft Time, the children will participate in the construction of a craft based on the theme of that week.
If you have any questions regarding Glacierview’s Truth Seekers program, please contact the Church office.
In keeping Glacierview Baptist Church’s devotion to maintaining a standard of excellence, TruthSeekers will strive to make our ministry program fun and exciting for children to participate in each week. We are all very excited to have this opportunity to reach children and families in our community and to see the fruit of our labors in the years to come.
